Kip Murphy

Kip Murphy had a lot of good advice in leadership and a lot of first hand knowledge. The three things that he talked about that stuck out most to me were...
  1. Focus on the people rather then the task
  2. Be aware of your own faults
  3. Value each relationship
Im going to sum these up in my own words.

  1. Don't put so much importance on the finished product but focus on the people involved in producing the product because in the end if you build relationships with the people making the product they're going to want to work better for you
  2. Your not perfect and the more aware of that you are the easier it will to involve people who excel where your faults are and maybe where you excel is their faults... so you build teamwork
  3. Make the best out of every person you meet or work with because that builds mutual trust and friendship

Using the P.D.S.A method

We had a problem. We had to move five marbles from one sink to the other without using our hands. My group was given PVC tubes and two screw drivers. Using the P.D.S.A method we started with our Problem statement which got everyone on the same page about what we needed to accomplish. Then we did our code of cooperation which helped with equality in the group and made communication easier. We brainstormed ideas on how to solve the problem, made a data table and tested each idea. We went over the numbers and found the most efficient way to move the marbles. After we found our solution we made a plus/delta chart describing what we did well as a group and what we would have changed.

P.D.S.A

To help fully understand a problem and find your solution a good method to use is the P.D.S.A method. It gives a full view on all perspectives and tools you can use.
P(plan)- use different tools to discribe what your problem is and figure out your goals you want to accomplish.
Use tools like if/then charts and brainstorming clouds.
D(do)-make surveys and research our ideas you brainstormed in the first step
S(study)-take in all the surveys and create visual aids to help sort the information you've collected. These visual aids will help you find the best way to go about your problem
A(act)-you've collected all your data and ran the numbers, now you can make a decision on how to solve the problem. Just do it
